The Enron Archive Launches

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, February 26, 2024

BUENOS AIRES - The Enron Archive – a non-incorporated, non-profit organization aimed at restoring and making accessible information about Enron Corp. online – has officially launched.

The Enron Archive aims to restore Enron's vast internet presence, considered pioneering by many, by using available information to restore the content to its former form and functionality where possible. It also aims to make restoration work by implementing lost functionality, trying to match it as much as possible to the original source.

“I’m very excited to finally launch The Enron Archive”, said Facundo Pignanelli - President of the organization in a statement. “Since I began working in restoring Enron’s internet website in 2017, the project has advanced in scope and I’m excited to develop more projects and make more information publicly accessible”, he added.

The Enron Archive is also concerned with archiving and making accessible data and information about the company outside the scope of its web presence. Example of this is the Enron Web Mail application, that presents the Enron Email Archive in an on-brand and period-appropriate manner, which has also launched in beta today.

The entire body of work of the Archive will be released through GitHub for the public to contribute. While the organization does not solicit, and does not accept, monetary donations, additions to the project's GitHub repositories and the donation of materials are greatly encouraged.
